Tax Manager
Overall Mission of the Position
The person filling this position is responsible for management, oversight, and preparation of individual and business tax returns, including tax compliance, tax consulting, business consulting, wealth planning for his or her clients, and the management and oversight for financial engagements; he or she is also responsible for overseeing some realm of the practice laid out in detail in the Ghirardo CPA Organization and Management guidelines.
Specific Qualifications that Pertain to the Position
- Must have a Bachelors’ Degree, CPA preferred
- Must have a minimum of five years public accounting experience
- Must have the ability to manage engagements of new and existing clients
- Must have the ability to manage client relationships
- Must be well-versed in tax research, planning, and preparation
- If managing financial engagements, must be well-versed in auditing and accounting research, planning, and statement preparation
- Must have solid written and oral communication skills
- Must have a desire to grow and excel
- Must have the respect of peers with whom and over whom he or she reports to
- Must be loyal to the firm and its employees
Essential Responsibilities of the Position
- To give agreed upon level of oversight to some aspect of the practice
- To manage engagements of new and existing clients
- To share in the supervision of tax seniors, tax, and accounting professionals
- To manage client relationships
- To carry out tax preparation and engagements in keeping with the terms of his or her employment
- To promote the firm through initiating and participating in business development activities
- To keep the firm’s partners informed at all times
