Born in New York, Barb considers herself a native of Marin as she grew up in San Rafael since the 1st grade! She has eighteen years of accounting and tax experience, most of which has been with Scott Porter, CPA and his father, Jerome Porter Accountancy. Barb has a degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in accounting from San Francisco State University.

Barbara started working as an accounting clerk for Jerome Porter Accountancy (Scott Porter's father) in Corte Madera while in college, left to work for Smith & Hawken after graduation, and after four years returned to Jerome Porter Accountancy. Later she joined Scott when he opened his own practice in 2001 as his Office Manager and Tax Accountant, and merged with Scott into Ghirardo CPA in 2010.

Barb has been married for 15 years and enjoys raising her daughter, gardening, mountain biking, hiking, cooking, traveling, remodeling their home and spending lots of time with family and friends.
