Bret grew up in Novato and graduated from San Marin High in 1977. He received his B.S. in Accounting from California State University Hayward in 1981 and went to work for Arthur Andersen. After two years he left to join the Charles Schwab Corporation. Bret spent 16 years with Schwab in Corporate Finance and obtained Series 7, 27 and 63 licenses. After leaving Schwab in 1999, he obtained his Real Estate license and did independent financial consulting, including assignments with Ghirardo CPA’s affiliate company, Cardinal Red Consulting, which led to a position with Sonoma Wine Company. After a year at Sonoma Wine Company, he left and joined the team at Ghirardo CPA.

Bret lives in San Rafael with his wife Diane and their two yellow labs. His outside interests include mountain biking, skiing, scuba diving, traveling, cooking and playing guitar.
